If you're having problems connecting to a WellAware Device using the Field App, follow these steps.

1. Check that Bluetooth is enabled

The WellAware Field App uses Bluetooth to connect to all WellAware Devices. Bluetooth must be enabled on your smartphone to connect to WellAware Devices.

Enabling Bluetooth on your smartphone

To enable Bluetooth on your device, go to Settings > Bluetooth and ensure that the Bluetooth toggle is enabled.

2. Make sure the Field App has permission to use Bluetooth

In addition to enabling Bluetooth, the Field App will need permission to use the Bluetooth function on your phone or tablet.

Giving the Field App Bluetooth permission on iPhones and iPads

To give the Field App permission to use Bluetooth on your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Privacy  > Bluetooth and ensure the WA Field toggle is enabled.

3. Make sure the WellAware Device has power

The WellAware Device needs to be powered on, either from an external power source or an internal power supply.

For externally powered devices, use a voltmeter to ensure power is being properly applied to the WellAware device. WellAware devices which utilize DC power (such as those connected tro solar batteries) require at least ~10V DC to function properly. WellAware devices which utilize AC power will require 110 - 220 V AC to function properly.

For battery-powered WellAware devices without external power, ensure the battery switch is in the On position.

If you don’t have a voltmeter, you can open the WellAware device lid and check for flashing or lit LEDs. If no LEDs are flashing or lit, the device may not be powered or the batteries may need to be replaced.

4. Reset the WellAware Device

If the steps above did not resolve the connection issue, the WellAware device may need to be reset. To reset the device and attempt a connection, follow the procedure below for the relevant device type.
